About Us

WHO WE ARE

The purpose of the Alameda Chapter:

  • To provide MOAA members, who live in Alameda County, opportunities to serve the community and support local Veterans events.
  • To support ROTC programs in or near Alameda County.
  • To be an effective local advocate for military personnel matters and especially proposed legislation affecting the career force, the retired community, and veterans of the uniformed services. Veteran or national security issues of concern to us, as military officers, by using our professional knowledge and experience as officers of our armed forces to be thoughtful leaders and influencers in our community on these issues.
  • To provide opportunities to share camaraderie with fellow officers.


WHAT WE DO

The Alameda County Chapter:

  • Serves as a local advocate for relevant Veterans or national security issues through legislative liaison.
  • Promotes social events where fellow military officers may socialize.
  • Conducts or participates in fund raising for:
    • ROTC Scholarships
    • Events scheduled by other Veterans Service Organizations (VSO);  Semi-annual East Bay Veterans Stand Downs.
    • Annually sponsor a Bay Cruise aboard the Presidential Yacht Potomac during San Francisco Fleet Week
    • Members volunteer to provide services to the VA Medical Facility in Livermore, California
  • The board of directors meet monthly and General Meetings are  held quarterly.  Meetings are typically held at COAST GUARD ISLAND, ALAMEDA, CA Due to county restrictions during the pandemic, meetings will be held via  Zoom.    Visit:  http://www.alamedamoaa.org/Zoom-Meetings

Membership

Membership is open to active duty, National Guard, Reserve, retired, and former commissioned officers and warrant officers of the following uniformed services: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Memberships also are available for surviving spouses of deceased officers.  Join here.  MOAA membership is incredibly significant when MOAA lobbies Congress on issues important to the military community. National MOAA and chapters are nonpartisan organizations.
