On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, 1:00– 2:30PM EDT, the Department of Labor's Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS) will be hosting an in-person panel titled "Commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Desegregation of the U.S. Armed Forces: Black Veterans and Good Jobs".  The event is intended to honor this historic milestone and highlight the contributions of Black service members who have helped shape a more diverse and inclusive U.S. military.

This hybrid event will take place at DOL’s Frances Perkins Building, 200 Constitution Ave NW, Washington D.C.  A calendar invite with TEAMS link to follow.   Yolanda Peacock (on cc line) is the POC for this event.  Please let her know if you plan to attend in person.   

Agenda:

Roundtable Discussion - A panel of veterans, practitioners, and researchers will gather to engage in thought-provoking discussion on the significance of the desegregation of the U.S. Armed Forces, its impact on civil rights movements, progress made toward equality in the military, and Black veterans’ access to good jobs.

New Research - The event will feature a special preview of recent research conducted by agencies under the Department of Labor including VETS and the Chief Evaluation Office (CEO). Preliminary findings on the experiences of Black veterans transitioning to civilian employment will be presented including factors associated with employment outcomes.
